Straight answers about how we work, what you get, and how to get started.
Working with StackScope
What does a fractional CTO actually do?
A fractional CTO fills the strategic technology leadership role without the full-time cost. That means setting technology direction, evaluating build vs. buy decisions, managing your tech vendors, guiding your engineering team, and translating technology risk into business language for your leadership team.
How is StackScope different from an MSP?
An MSP manages your existing IT systems. StackScope is a strategic partner — we help you decide what systems you should have, whether your technology investments make sense, and where your architecture is creating risk. We sit at the leadership table, not the help desk.
Do I need to already have a technology team?
No. We work with companies that have internal engineers, companies that rely entirely on vendors, and everything in between. We adapt to your current setup and help you make it better.
Do you work with specific industries?
Our sweet spot is B2B SaaS, professional services, healthcare, and e-commerce — companies with 50–200 employees where technology decisions have real business impact. That said, the fundamentals of good technology strategy apply broadly. Book a free call if you're unsure whether we're the right fit.
What if I have a one-time project?
We occasionally take project-based work. Book a consultation and we can discuss whether a project engagement makes more sense than a retainer.
Pricing & Plans
Is there a long-term contract?
No. All plans are month-to-month. You can cancel anytime — no penalty, no fine print.
Can I upgrade or downgrade plans?
Yes. You can change tiers at the start of any billing cycle. Most clients start on Starter and upgrade to Growth once they see what's possible.
What's the difference between the tiers?
Starter ($2,500/mo) gives you a technology health assessment plus a monthly infrastructure review — ideal if you want to understand where you stand. Growth ($3,500/mo) adds a dedicated fractional CTO driving your roadmap. Enterprise ($5,000/mo) is a full-depth engagement with weekly sessions, compliance programs, and a dedicated Slack channel. See the full pricing page for what's included in each.
Are there any setup fees?
No setup fees. You pay the monthly rate, and we get to work. The first month includes an onboarding call and technology health assessment at no extra charge.
Getting Started
What happens after I subscribe?
You'll hear from us within 1 business day to schedule your onboarding call and kick off the engagement. We move fast.
What should I prepare before our first call?
Nothing formal required. It helps to have a rough sense of your current technology stack, your biggest pain points, and any recent decisions that felt risky or unclear. If you've done our free technology assessment, bring those results — it gives us a faster start.
How quickly will I see results?
Most clients leave the first call with 2–3 concrete action items they didn't have before. Within the first month, you'll have a complete picture of your technology health and a clear view of your highest-priority risks and opportunities.
Not sure which plan is right?
Start with the free technology assessment — 5 minutes, and you'll know exactly where your stack stands. Then book a free consultation and we'll tell you which tier makes sense for your situation. No pressure, no upsell.
Still have questions?
Book a free 30-minute call. We'll answer everything and tell you exactly what tier makes sense for your situation.
